With a doctor's prescription, Bodywise is now able provide custom-made orthotics. Orthotics are used to correct improper foot mechanics that cause pain and discomfort. Many times what happens at the foot can also cause pain at the knee, hip and even the back. However, not everyone is meant for orthotics. Sometimes the pain can be resolved by a simple shoe change or by treating the knee or hip.
To creat an orthotic, a cast is made of your foot and sent out to a company that will design a shoe insert that corrects any foot abnormalities. This puts your foot in the correct position when it hits the ground.
Orthotics are not usually covered by insurance and at this time are an "out-of-pocket" expense. Stop in or call and ask us if you would benefit from orthotics.
